We spent a couple nights a week visiting with neighbors while the boys play. It’s nice to have friends in the neighborhood.
I asked Tyler to make me a margarita. I thought Oliver was down for the night. I miscalculated how long it had been since I fed him. I just downed a shot of tequila and his eyes popped open! Then he started rooting. Ah man!
He impatiently waited for a bottle and I felt like a drunk on a bar stool! Sorry baby mommy is sorry!
Yesterday Nolan had six accidents and with the sandbox changed his pants 8 times!
I knew we had some regression with Oliver’s arrival but this many was like starting potty training over!
After some watching and investigating, I believe that he’s just a messy “pee-er.” He flips his pants off to pee and then has terrible aim! The pants end up a casualty and he brings them to me.
Whew! He still has accidents and needs pull-ups at night but it’s not near as bad as I thought.
Now I can just remind him every hour and then work on being dry at night. He works for things too now. He’s working to be dry all day to get ice cream tonight! Yes it’s a food bribe but after the pile of laundry from yesterday I will take it!
Last week we went to that new member dinner at church. We met some couples
with small children. Nolan ran around with a little boy named Zach.
Zach was at the library with his mom and brother Andrew. His mom recognized us and approached me. We started chatting about the preschool and church. Her husband also works in healthcare like Tyler.
I immediately got my phone and asked for her number to set up a play date . I suggested the story hour next week at the library.
Here I used to be the scared one to initiate a play date. Now I’m booking them like a boss because we need to get out of the house and make friends too!
I’m hoping we hit it off. The boys will go to the nursery at church at the same time and possibly the preschool. She just toured the school and is interested. Bonus is that the dads have things in common and have already met. BBQ buddies!
Why is making new family friends seem so hard? I wish people wore signs that said new here love to make a friend or befriend us!
They just moved to Nashville from California .
Oliver overload—likes pacis, Nolan reading to him, and the kick piano!
Nolan starts preschool two days a week in two weeks. I thought we should get on more of a routine or schedule. Maybe because after two months I am finally getting the hang of two?
Everyone was up at 7 so mommy got a workout in at 830 and we got a bike ride in before the heat wave. Oh how I hate that I’m hurrying them out the door because the weather app says it’s 80 but feels like 90 instead of 105!
TV has been off this morning! Oliver is on more of a schedule and can almost go 3 hour stretches for eating.
We are off to have a 10ish snack break while Oliver sleeps.
